The SharePortals concept of a task is simply an action that is to be carried out by a certain person in the organisation, including information on when the action should be carried out by, the priority of the action and whether the action has been completed or not.

The tasks you will create in SharePortals are aligned against existing records in SharePortals; in other words, the accounts, contacts and opportunities you create can each have tasks associated with them that need to be carried out. Each record stored in SharePortals can also include a list of tasks relevant to that record, in various states that are tracked and changed throughout the relationship with the account, or lifecycle of the opportunity, etc.
