3.3.14.1. Back Up Configuration

The configuration for SharePortals should only be backed up for the following reasons:

1. For a production SharePortals instance it may be prudent to back up configuration for DR purposes
2. Prior to making substantial changes to a settings screen, you can back up the current state if you suspect your changes may cause issues
3. The configuration for 1 or more screens is in an irrecoverable state, though you know there are some settings pages which have valid configuration.

Backup Configuration

Not all settings screens can be backed up, but if they can you will see this symbol on the settings button prior to opening the page:

Clicking Download Settings will generate an XML file to your local computer default download path

!It is unsupported to modify the XML configuration directly. Please only do so under the guidance of an expert.

Clicking Upload Settings will ask you to specify the location of a valid XML file. Click OK once a path is specified and the configuration for the relevant page should be updated.
