3.1.1. Infrastructure Architecture

SharePortals is a provider hosted web application for Microsoft Office 365 SharePoint Online services. This application is run within a Microsoft Azure app service plan.

There are three architecture options to choose from:

1. Betasoft Hosted Standard Shared – The SharePortals app service is hosted by Betasoft in one of our existing Microsoft Azure Datacentre locations. Currently UK (UK West), EU (France Central), or US (Central US) application instances are available to communicate with your own Microsoft Office 365 environment. These application services are run within the respective Microsoft Azure region as a multi-tenanted application. This is the standard option which will work for most customers. All information is stored within the customers own Office 365 tenant SharePoint site.

1. Betasoft Hosted Dedicated Instance The SharePortals app service is hosted by Betasoft using a dedicated application instance to communicate with your own Microsoft Office 365 environment. This application service is run within a Microsoft Azure region requested by the client or partner. This will typically be utilised by a large enterprise client with highly sensitive compliant needs such as government accounts, or partners who which to offer their own version of SharePortals managed by Betasoft.

Dedicated Self Hosted Instance – The SharePortals app service is hosted by the client or partner using a dedicated application instance to communicate with your own Microsoft Office 365 environment. This application service is run within a Microsoft Azure region determined by the client. This will typically be utilised by a large enterprise client with highly sensitive compliant needs such as government accounts, or partners who wish to host their own instance of SharePortals. Not only is all information stored within the customers own Office 365 tenant SharePoint site, but any processing also occurs on an instance of the SharePortals app not hosted by Betasoft.
